The Skinny: We're into the third week of action and the lead has changed hands for a second week in a row. Biodegradable Merkin (Daddy) is back in the top spot after a 12 win performance, while defending champ (singer) is right behind in second place. There's a tie for third place with The Marcus Hookers (Schanzer), JustGotOutOfPrison (Storms), Austin Drunks (MattStephans), and JackAceoff (Miami Don). The Texas boys, Austin Drunks and JustGotOutOfPrison, are making a run.
The Straight Dope: The Aussie is tied for 7th place. The British dude and the only chick in the pool are tied in 14th place. Everyone below them should be ashamed to be Americans! Austin Drunks (MattS) is trying to win the Triple Crown of Pauly's Pub football pools. He's third in this pool, second in the Grid Iron fantasy football pool, and leads theCollege Pick'em Pool.

The Skinny: The pack caught up to Biodegradable Merkin, who jumped out to the early lead in Week 1. There's a five-way tie for first place. Blow me I'm a danish (Jerry) took down Team of the Week honors, which helped propel him into first place along with The Marcus Hookers (Schanzer), Austin Drunks (MStephans), Free Mike Vick (Clay), and Biodegradable Merkin (Daddy).
The Straight Dope: Green Bay is 2-0? Never thought that would happen. If you are wondering, the two foreigners are doing well and tied for 10th place. Week 1 - Pauly's Pub Football Pool Update
Welcome back to the weekly updates of Pauly's Pub Football Pool. This is the 8th straight season that I'm running this specific pool. Singer is the reigning champion. Of course I missed most of the opening weekend while stuck in London for business. Luckily I work inside a casino, so they showed the Jets-Pats debacle on the biggest screen in the joint.
This season is the largest football pool to date with a prize pool of $740. If this is the first time you are participating, the Top 4 places pay out prize money and I'll figure out specific payout information in a few weeks... but I'm guessing that the winner will get around $350 for first place.
If you have not paid, me, I encourage you to do so immediately. Money is due by September 23rd.
Don't forget to do you picks!! If you happen to miss one week, do not worry. The default pick is for the home teams, so there's a good chance you get a few wins if you forget to do your picks. There have been instances in the past when the people who forgot to do their picks ended up with more wins than those who did their picks that week. Weird things happen in the NFL.

The Skinny: The first week is always interesting and the best chance to start off the season on a good note. Daddy's Biodegradable Merkin jumped out to the early leading going 14-2. Looks like Biodegradable Merkin might be the team to beat this year. Defending champion Singer's team aptly called defending champ, is right behind in second place along with 13 wins. Free Mike Vick (Clay) and The Marcus Hookers (Schanzer) are also tied for second place.
The Straight Dope: If you have less than 11 wins, you are currently being beat by a British guy, an Aussie, and the only chick in the pool. You should be ashamed at yourself! (No offence to said Brit, Aussie, or chick.) It's a great mix of people in the pool this year with a trio of Texans, a gaggle of West Coasters, a nice contingency from GVegas, and all the NYC boys.

Fantasy Sports Live: Blogger Fantasy Football Battle (BFFB)

Dear degenerate action junkie sports bettors and gamblers... are you ready for some fantasy football? The folks at Fantasy Sports Live.com (and that includes yours truly) have come up with something designed to meet all of your NFL and inner sports junkie needs.
We are proud to announce, the the first annual Blogger Fantasy Football Battle (BFFB) sponsored by FantasySportsLive.com!
The BFFB will bring together poker bloggers from around the country (and dare I say world?) to compete in MTT style Fantasy Football contests that will run each week of the football season. $500 minimum will be added to the prize pool by FSL.
Each week starting September 9th, FSL will run 10-player $10 fee contests with BFFB in the title. Each contest will pay out $90 to the top three finishers that week. The results of all bloggers will be pooled together each week to determine the weekly BFFB results. Points will be awarded to the top 50% of finishers each week based on the PokerStars TLB formula. Points will be accumulated throughout the season to determine the overall champion. Added prizes by FSL are listed below. Also, any weekly overall winners will be invited to a Tournament of Champions at the end of the season.
You can chose to compete weekly for your best chance at the season title, or just enter as many as you can. Even with a single weekly entry you are eligible for the highest score prize or with a win an entry in the tournament of champions. What we are doing with the BFFB has never been done before, and would not be possible without the daily contest format that we use. This format allows us to apples to apples compare 100s of fantasy football entries, which is impossible with standard fantasy offerings. Please help us make the BFFB a success, and spread the word about FSL.

The BFFB will bring together poker bloggers from around the country (and dare I say world?) to compete in MTT style Fantasy Football contests that will run each week of the football season. $500 minimum will be added to the prize pool by FSL.
Each week starting September 9th, FSL will run 10-player $10 fee contests with BFFB in the title. Each contest will pay out $90 to the top three finishers that week. The results of all bloggers will be pooled together each week to determine the weekly BFFB results. Points will be awarded to the top 50% of finishers each week based on the PokerStars TLB formula. Points will be accumulated throughout the season to determine the overall champion. Added prizes by FSL are listed below. Also, any weekly overall winners will be invited to a Tournament of Champions at the end of the season.

You can chose to compete weekly for your best chance at the season title, or just enter as many as you can. Even with a single weekly entry you are eligible for the highest score prize or with a win an entry in the tournament of champions. What we are doing with the BFFB has never been done before, and would not be possible without the daily contest format that we use. This format allows us to apples to apples compare 100s of fantasy football entries, which is impossible with standard fantasy offerings.
