The Skinny: It looks like defending champ (singer) is trying to make a move and pull away. JackAceoff (MiamiDon) and G-Vegas2X4&Adonkey (s. smith) are tied for second, while there's a four way tie for 4th place among Coach's Corner (Coach), Blow me I'm a danish (Jerry), NigglingGroinInjury (Garth), and Biodegradable Merkin (Daddy). We're almsot approaching the mid-way point and it looks like the race is still wide open. A bad week from any of the top spots could spell doom as there's a hungry pack not far beind.

The Straight Dope: Think that you're down at the bottom and don't have a chance? Put this into perspective... at the end of Week 5, one of my teams Shakedown Street was in 36th or next to last place. After tie for team of the week honors in consecutive weeks, I jumped to a tie for 15th place. Anything can happen during any given week. So don't give up just yet! In case you were wondering, The Aussie is tied for 4th, the only chick in the pool is tied for 10th, and the British dude has slipped to 21st. Anyone below that should be ashamed of yourself! Maybe you should ask your secretary or maybe your five year old kid to help do your picks??

The Skinny: It was another interesting week with a lot of favroites winning but a couple of big upsets. defending champ (singer) is still in first place but JackAceoff (Miami Don) picked up some ground and only trails by a single point. G-Vegas2X4&Adonkey (s. smith) jumped into third place after co-winning Team of the Week honors. There's a three-way tie for fourth place among JustGotOutOfPrison (Storms), NigglingGroinInjury (AussieGarth), and Biodegradable Merkin (Daddy).

The Straight Dope: Only ten points separates first place from 30th place, which means if anyone can catch the front leaders as long as they average at least one more win pr week than the guys in first place. In case you were wondering, the Aussie is in the Top 5, while th eonly chick in the pool is tied for 9th place. The British dude is holding his own in 18th place.

  Pigskin Pick'em - Week 5 Update

Team of the Week: (tie) JohnnyDramasFruitCup, I'm BuGGinG OuT!, and Rockets 12 wins each

The Skinny: After an odd Week 4, a lot of favorites won on Week 5. defending champ (singer) is still on top with 53 wins and is trying to pick up back-to-back Pauly's Pub Pigskin Championships. He has JackAceoff (Miami Don) right behind in second place and NigglingGroinInjury (AussieGarth) is not far behind in third place. There's a four-way tie for fourth place among Austin Drunks (MattS), JustGotOutOfPrison (Storms), JohnnyDramasFruitCup (Change100), and Biodegradable Merkin (Daddy). JohnnyDramasFruitCup (Change100) tied for Team of the Week honors which pushed her to the front of the pack. I almost picked up a hat trick this week. In my two other pools, I took team of the week honors, but managed to miss that here by one win in Week 5.

Rules Clarification: Johnny Walker asked me about the tie-breaker for Team of the Week honors. I don't use one. ESPN uses the Monday Night Football final score when determining their overall weekly winner. We used to adhere to that here at Pauly's Pub many moons ago, but half of you lazy bastards don't bother to put a MNF final score in there anyway. So like the Special Olympics, I want to make sure every has a chance at being recognized a winner!

The Straight Dope: There is still plenty of football left, so you bottom dwellers better start getting your shit together. The battle of the basement is between Shakedown Street (my first sheet) and Ghost of Al Toon (J. Moore). And in case you were wondering... The British guy is holding steady in 13th place. Anyone below him should start asking your 5 year old kid for assistance or asking your Valium-laced secretary for help. The only chick in the pool is tied for 4th while Aussie Garth is making a run for it all. NigglingGroinInjury is currently in third place. Be careful Garth, don't get too close to first place otherwise someone in the pool might drop your name to the Dick Cheney and he'll toss your ass into Gitmo for the rest of the season.

The Skinny: It was a weird week with a slew of home dogs winning. A mere 8 wins was the best that anyone could do on Sunday and Monday. Five players tied for Team of the week honors. In the overall race, defending champ (singer) is ahead by two wins with 42 while JackAceoff (MiamiDon), G-Vegas2X4&Adonkey (s. smith), and NigglingGroinInjury (AussieGarth) are tied for second place.

The Straight Dope: There is still plenty of football left.You have 13 weeks to redeem yourself.
